May 2023 is a big month for fantasy book releases! So many great new books are coming out, from epic fantasy to urban fantasy to historical fantasy. Whether you’re a fan of classic fantasy tropes or looking for something new and different, you’ll find something to love in this month’s releases.

Atalanta by Jennifer Saint

Yellowface by RF Kuang
This is a list of May 2023 fantasy book releases, but fantasy author RF Kuang’s first thriller, Yellowface, comes out on May 16, 2023.

The Will of the Many by James Islington
The Will of the Many comes out on May 23rd.

The Malevolent Seven by Sebastien de Castell
One of the most anticipated May 2023 fantasy book releases, The Malevolent Seven, hits shelves on the 16th.

I am proud of you if you made it to the end of this. This may have been my longest new fantasy release post yet.
