February 2022 Fantasy Book Releases

Check out all of the exciting February 2022 fantasy book releases and make room on your shelf and in your TBR.

This year is shaping up to be quite the year for Fantasy book releases. There were quite a few amazing January 2022 fantasy book releases, and now there are even more coming out in February.

This may be the shortest month of the year, but it is not short on amazing fantasy books coming out to make our shelves swell and neverending TBRs continue to grow. 

Highly Anticipated February 2022 Fantasy Book Releases

As always, this is by no means a master list of every fantasy book coming out in February.  Some will be missing, some will have their release dates changed. Just because you don’t see something here doesn’t mean it isn’t coming out. That only means I didn’t see it.

Fantasy Sequels for February 2022

There weren’t as many sequels coming out this month as in other months. There are a few though. The fantasy sequels that are coming out are highly anticipated though.

Amari and the Great Game

The sequel to the adorable middle-grade fantasy, Amari and the Night Brothers, Amari and the Great Game by BB Alston will hit shelves on February 1, 2022. This highly anticipated release has been compared to Artemis Fowl meets Men in Black. Book one took the internet by storm in the past year, and we expect book 2 to do the same. This was a true booktube darling and I for one can’t wait to see what happens next!

House of Sky and Breath

House of Sky and Breath is the much-awaited sequel to House of Eath and Blood by Sarah J Maas. This is the second book in Maa’s first true adult fantasy book series. Book one was a hit with most of the online bookish community and I know everyone is dying to know what happens after the ending of the first book. You won’t need to wait much longer, as this book comes out on February 15, 2022.

There are really on these two sequels coming out in February. All the rest of the exciting book releases are starts to new series or standalone fantasy books. 

New Standalone Fantasy Book Releases February 2022

These books coming out in February will be, allegedly, standalone fantasy books. According to the information on Goodreads anyways. There is no series name listed by them and a little digging doesn’t show me anything more than just the single book planned. I could be wrong, but this is what the information I have tells me. So if you want some really fun-sounding fantasy standalone books. Check some of these February releases out. 

Fire Becomes Her

This is really cool-sounding premise with a beautiful cover. We follow Ingrid, a teenage girl in the Jazz Age.  Ingrid isn’t rich, but she had magic and a plan to rise to the top of society.

She plans to use her magic to spy on a senator who is running for president, but playing both sides will have her questioning where her true loyalties lie. This book comes out on February 1, 2022.

League of Liars

League of Liars is a fantasy thriller that follows four teens who are charged with murder and the illegal use of magic. They must band together to come up with the ultimate prison break and prove their innocence. 

This book comes out on February 22, 2022.

From Dust, a Flame

Coming out on February 8, 2022, From Dust, a Flame is a thrilling new YA fantasy. We follow Hannah, her mom, and her brother. They live a life on the road, never staying in one place for too long.

One day, Hannah wakes up transformed. her eyes have changed among other unexplainable things.  Her mom and brother leave to find help, but when they don’t return, she must strike out on her own to figure out what is changing and learn more about her dark and fantastical family heritage. 

Reclaim the Stars: 17 Tales Across Realms & Space

Coming out on February 15, 2022, this is a sci-fi and fantasy short story anthology written by leading voices in the Latin American diaspora. 

Bright Ruined Things

Mae is a young girl, living on the charity of a wealthy family on an island. The family controls the magic and spirits of the island, though Mae longs for magic of her own and to have a true place among the family. 

When something goes wrong with the island’s magic, Mae finally has the chance to prove herself and solve the mystery.

The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea

With a stunning cover and amazing premise, this book is guaranteed to be a hit when it comes out on February 22, 2022.

We follow Mina, as she is swept away to the Spirit Realm to seek out the Sea God in an attempt to save her brother. 

New Fantasy Series Coming Out In February 2022

Now that we have covered the sequels and standalone books, it is time to dive into all the new series that will be coming out in February. These five new series all sound like they will have a wide appeal to most fantasy readers. The covers are also absolutely stunning, and I can’t wait to read them all when they come out this year. 

Shadows in the Deep

In this new fantasy series coming out on February 1, 2022, we follow Amphitrite.   She has honed her capacity for bloodshed. As the most lethal of the Nereids, she’s determined to return her father to the throne of Atlantis, even if it means marrying her greatest enemy.

This book is pitched as Greek mythology infused with romance and magic.  While I was able to find this on Goodreads, I was unable to find a listing on Amazon. So we will see if this comes out or if it gets pushed back. 

Only a Monster

Only a Monster comes out on February 22, 2022. This is a dark Ya fantasy book with romance, magic, and monsters. Joan is a sixteen-year-old who loves her eccentric family and nerdy day job.

Her life is upended though when she learns her family’s dark secret though. They are monsters, with hidden powers. And the boy she has recently started dating is a monster hunter! She then has to team up with the heir to a rival monster family in order to save herself and her family. And embrace the fact that in this story, she is not the hero.

Castles in Their Bones

The first book in a new fantasy trilogy by acclaimed writer Laura Sebastian, this book is a spellbinding story of three princesses. The princesses must embrace their destinies and navigate through the world of conquest, seduction, and desire for the crown. 

Stealing Infinity

Coming out on February 1, 2022, we follow a young girl with an unusual gift as she is taken away to an academy filled with time-traveling teens. 

While there, she becomes the target for a sinister group that is hell-bent on rewriting history.

This Woven Kingdom

A new book from acclaimed YA writer Tahereh Mafi. This Woven Kingdom is a Persian-inspired fantasy that is dripping with magic, rebellion, and forbidden romance. 

2022 Fantasy Book Releases

That was a lot! There are so many amazing-sounding books coming out in February! I have no idea how I am going to get to them all, but you know I am going to try.
